What’s the Favorite Place You Have Traveled to and Why?
Rafting and camping for a week in the Grand Canyon changed my life. I traveled there with Geology professors and classmates immediately after graduating from college. We slept on the beaches under the stars, and I will never forget the otherworldly reds and oranges of the canyon contrasted with the blue-green water and bright blue sky. That week gave me time to think about my post-college future; I set an intention to move to San Francisco, where I ended up working for 15 years.
Before Joining Willow Street, What was Your Most Interesting Job?
During my 15 years in San Francisco, I worked for home furnishings designer Kenneth Wingard. Charged with product development, I traveled to Portugal and Italy to meet with factories and attend trade shows. Later, I accompanied him on a three-week buying and product development trip to India, Thailand, and Taiwan to meet with factories and agents in larger cities like Delhi and Bangkok, remote towns, and even private homes. It was amazing to immerse myself in completely different cultures, see sights, and taste meals cooked by the families of our business partners.
Please join us in welcoming Kate.
