If you could teach a course on any subject, what would it be?
I would teach a food systems course exploring the history, politics, economics, and environmental impacts of food and farming in the US. Food plays such an integral role in our lives, yet our experience usually begins at the grocery store. This class would examine the systems that bring food to our tables—and why they are so important.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
“It is not the beginning, but the continuing of the same, until it be thoroughly finished.” A mentor of mine often used this adage to emphasize the importance of perseverance and integrity. While starting something new is exciting, true fulfillment comes from seeing an undertaking through to completion.
