What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
A mentor once gave me a card that said, “Once you know better, do better.” This phrase reminds me to approach life with a learning mindset and to integrate lessons I’ve learned into my life quickly, whether it’s a new skill in an outdoor sport, a small habit that brings me peace, or a deeper understanding of how best communicate with the people I love. Since the only constant in life is change, it’s freeing to believe that I’m always evolving, too.
If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
I would love to learn how to surf. As a swimmer, water skier, and kayaker, I feel most at home, at peace, and fully present when I am in or on the water. Surfing encapsulates everything I enjoy about other water sports with the beautiful added elements of salt water and ocean creatures.
